What to do in the springtime around Boone!
Railroad Explorers: This activity is located at the Boone Scenic Valley Railroad. It’s one of the most amazing things to do in Boone County! Climb into the seat, buckle yourself up, and pedal! The cart stays on the rails at all times. It stretches twelve miles, and ends at the Des Moines River!
Railroad Explorers is open at all times, however it is much more convenient in the spring and even summer!
The Ledges State Park: Boone County has its state park, but some folks still don’t know about it. It was founded in 1924. The Ledges has provided hiking trails, habitats, small rivers, a campground, fishing spots, and swimming spots too! It is completely free but does have an opening and closing time.
The park will open at 4:00 am and will close at 10:30 pm.

Kate Shelley High Bridge/ Mamie Eisenhower: If you are interested in history, check out the Kate Shelley High Bridge and the birthplace of Mamie Eisenhower! These two places mark the most historic places in Iowa.
Seven Oaks: Take a trip down to Seven Oaks! There are a wide variety of opportunities to get out of the house! Canoeing, kayak and river tube floats, paintball, Gladiator Assault Challenge Mud Run, facility rentals for weddings, receptions, and other gatherings, and more. Provides fun and relaxation for diverse ages who want to socialize and participate in the great outdoors to remain mentally and physically healthy. Seven Oaks is a family-owned and operated “beginner-friendly” resort for individuals and groups of all sizes.
Bowling: The Tiger Bowl in Madrid Iowa, is a fun place to take your family and friends for a fun time! You can bowl for as long as wanted. The food there is very affordable. This makes a nice road trip for the family and an affordable fun time!

Franklin Park, located in Boone, provides a great park for entertaining. Franklin supplies swing sets and a bunch of new equipment! It’s a great place to take children and to get some fresh air! Feel free to check it out! It is welcomed for all ages. As well as the numerous other great parks around town.
Don Williams Recreation Area
Don Williams has provided a great place to explore. Don Williams provides campgrounds, lake for fishing, hiking trails, and tons of wildlife. (It is even a good place to go mushroom hunting!) Tons of memories are waiting to be made! Take a trip down to Don Williams and experience it for yourself!
